Frequently Asked Questions
Can you add a feature that does so and so?
Send us an email. We have added many user requested features.
Why can't I back up some applications?
Applications published on the Market can be marked as public or private. Most paid applications are marked as private. The Android OS does not allow private applications to be backed up.
What is the issue with .nomedia files?
The Android OS has a bug that can cause media files to be erased by the Media Scanner. The use of .nomedia files is not recommended. ASTRO tries to avoid doing any operations on directories that contain .nomedia files.
When I try to do XXX it I get an error that says Insuficient Permissions.
Sometimes Android will inappropriately detect the SD card as read only, which tells ASTRO to not allow any changes to the files. A couple of suggestions to fix this: 1. Reboot your phone and the operation again. 2. Unmount the SD card - From the home screen click Menu / Settings / SD card / Unmount SD card. Then physically remove and re-insert the card and try the operation again.
Why is ASTRO larger than some other file managers?
A couple of reasons. First ASTRO does much more behind the scenes than most users realize. ASTRO is designed to work correctly in the phone's environment, so it handles things properly if it is interrupted, by a phone call for example. (See what happens if you receive a call while copying files with another file manager). This extra work requires more code. Two, ASTRO contains high resolution graphics and code for the high resolutions phones. Unfortunately, there is no way to separate these even if the phone doesn't need them.
Can I view HTML files on my SD card with ASTRO?
Yes, just click on the file and ASTRO will open it in the web browser. All local images and links will also work correctly so you can view a whole site. ASTRO can even view html files or sites inside a zip file.
